Hammers deny Alberto claims

|

West Ham United have no knowledge of any price having been put on potential Brazilian striker target Yuri Alberto.

The Corinthians front man is being strongly linked with the Irons and technical director Tim Steidten is currently in the country discussing a possible deal.

However a story claiming Corinthians’ board have agreed to sell the player to us should we offer  21.5million has beenm denied by the Hammers.

A Brazilian news outlet reported  that West Ham’s bid for Alberto, 22, currently stands at £17.1million. However, it is understood that Corinthians only have 50 per cent of the striker’s “economic rights” with former club Zenit St Petersburg owning the rest.

As a result it is understood by media outlets in Brazil that the, Corinthians want a higher fee for Alberto because they’ll only receive half of what the Irons offer.
A Hammers source told Claret and Hugh that was news to them saying: “We have heard nothing of the sort!”
