West Ham United fans will be hoping that Jarrod Bowen’s public commitment to staying and fighting for promotion next season will lead to a cascade of other senior players committing to the Irons’ cause.
After the departure of Ferndandes, Disasi, Traore and Callum Wilson, fans and the club’s directors will be hoping to retain the core of their team after Daniel Kretinsky’s June pledge when assuming control of the boardroom.
According to hammers.news, defender and Hammer of the Year Dinos Mavropanos now has to make the choice between a move to Germany – with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen most recently suggested as planning for a bid – or signing a Bowen – style deal at West Ham which will guarantee he stays and fights to recover the club’s Premier League status this season.

It is claimed there are three conditions in the new offer:
*His contract will be extended by two years
*He’ll have a release clause added to his deal so that he can ‘escape’ if the Hammers don’t make it back this season and:
*Mavropanos will receive a big promotion bonus if West Ham are successful in heading back to the Premier League at the end of the 2026/7 season.
A similar deal is likely to be offered to injured Czech star Tomas Soucek – and you’d think it possible that Kretinsky’s revised terms could also be offered to senior squad members such as Taty Castellanos and others. Sadly it seems too late to turn Crysencio Summerville’s head and there’s a growing acceptance amongst supporters that a sale for the Dutch winger is imminent.
As I have been saying for sometime, it’s up to West Ham as to whether they impose the 50% salary cut. If a player is deemed key to promotion they can simply leave the contract unchanged or even improved.

I really don’t see any logic behind offering escape clauses. They are already on long term contracts, so don’t need any additional incentives to stay. If they try and force a move, then they can play in the reserves.
