The Hammers bounced back from a last-minute defeat to Brentford in the best possible style, by taking maximum points in the rest of the month, kickstarted by a 1-0 win at Everton on their return from the international break.

They followed that by winning a derby match-up with Tottenham Hotspur by the same scoreline at London Stadium, with Michail Antonio notching the only goal of the game.

October then concluded with a thrilling 4-1 success at Aston Villa, when Ben Johnson, Declan Rice, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen all found the net.

With a UEFA Europa League victory over Genk and a Carabao Cup penalty shootout success against Manchester City also coming in October, it truly was a month to remember

Moyes has won ten Premier League Manager of the Month awards during his successful career, ranking him third behind only Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger.

Declan Rice has been nominated for the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month award for October.

West Ham United’s outstanding midfielder captained the Hammers to three wins in their four fixtures, capping the month with a goal and an assist in the 4-1 victory at Aston Villa last Sunday.

The 22-year-old played all 360 minutes in October, kicking-off with the 2-1 home defeat by Brentford, followed by 1-0 wins away at Everton and home to Tottenham Hotspur and the aforementioned victory at Villa Park.

The England international, who also started West Ham’s UEFA Europa League Group H win over KRC Genk at London Stadium and England’s 1-1 FIFA World Cup qualifying draw with Hungary at Wembley, has not missed a single minute of the Irons’ ten Premier League matches played so far in 2021/22.

With Rice leading by example, West Ham are fourth in the table with 20 points from those ten games – a record tally in the Premier League era – and unbeaten away from home.

In October, in addition to his goal and assist for Ben Johnson at Aston Villa, Rice completed 88 per cent of his 251 passes, made 16 tackles, six interceptions, five clearances and blocked four shots.

The No41 is shortlisted alongside Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell, Burnley’s Maxwell Cornet, Manchester City midfielder Ben Foden, Southampton full-back Valentino Livramento, Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

Voting closes on Monday 8 November at 12noon. The winner will be announced on Friday 12 November at 11am.
