With the average age of West Ham’s squad now thankfully back in the sub – 25 range, the signing of young talented players with a high ceiling like Edvin Austbø has hopefully shown the direction of travel for West Ham’s recruitment policy.
Following the huge profits generated by selling Fernandes (21) and Summerville (24), recruitment director Nils Koppen is evidently tasked with digging up a star of the future who can cut it in the Premeir League rather than merely relying on ‘recycled’ older talent.
The Championship challenge does demand older heads too, with Joel Velthma being a case in point, but long term success both on and off the pitch comes from buying players with potential, on an upward path.
Hence the report suggesting West Ham have another young talent earmarked for a move in the next window: Young Polish midfielder Marcel Regula, according to thehardtackle.com.

Think we need to concentrate on winning our next game. After that should we look no further than the next one.
When we have achieved our goals for this season, only then should we begin to prepare for life in the Premier League and selling on our bargain buys. Or perhaps we might show some ambition by building a team for keeps and aiming high.
It has never been our place to be a financially successful feeder team for the big clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham, Brentford and Arsenal.
We need to dream of the future but we also need to know what we are about today.

If we’re still tearing it up come January we need to plan not just for going up but for staying up. I don’t think we’re anywhere near that at the moment and that we will need serious incomings both in January and at the end of the season.
We are an opportunity for players like Austvo to come in and perform, he’s precisely the sort of signing we need. Give him more opportunity what I’ve seen has only been good and I don’t think it’s impossible that he could nick Solomons spot in time.
Whilst the club need to uncover Premiership players of the future, I’d concentrate efforts on extending Mukasa’s loan by 2 more seasons, subject of course to our promotion this season
Whilst we’ve lost the boy as a player on our books, he could still be of great benefit to West Ham, and of course at the same time benefiting Man City and Mukasa himself
Then players like Regula, if he’s good enough can be brought on with the squad, to the point he’s ready to take over
