Hammers remain without a win

West Ham United U23s are still without a win in their Premier League One Division season after a 3-2 loss to Derby County U23s last night (Mon).

After remaining unbeaten throughout last season’s league campaign – and being promoted back to the top league – the hammers are finding life incredibly tough at the top.

And lead coach Dmitri Halajko made it clear that not much has changed over the season with the game being similar to what we have seen over the first six games.

With just two points in the bag the team has had 12 goals registered against them whilst scoring six in what has been a really disappointing start to the campaign.

“It was similar to a few games this season really, where we’ve taken too long to get started and given teams a head start,” Halajko reflected.

He believes the team has the ability and character to bounce back when they meet Liverpool U23s at Rush Green Stadium on Friday 6 November.

But it’s always difficult after a run of poor the results to find the confidence to pick up the season and the lads will need to come out revitalised against seriously tough opposition
Halajko added: “When we have got started, we’ve been the better team, but if we keep giving teams one or two goals head start before trying to fight our way back into it, we’re going to find ourselves on the wrong sides of results like we have tonight.

“There are spells of the game that we dominated – all of the second half, for sure – but unfortunately it was too little, too late.

“There are signs there that we’re good enough to compete at this level, but at the moment we can’t really put together a whole performance that gives us a result – a performance from minute one to minute 90. There are big lapses in there which give opposition teams too many opportunities.”
