Hammers super fan remembered

|

West Ham super fan Ben Smith will be remembered for decades to come at the London Stadium after the installation of a stone at Champions Place.

Ben passed away last year and a crowdfunding effort by Claret and Hugh readers raised money to give the West Ham super fan a proper Hammers send-off with a big West Ham wreath taking pride of place at his funeral in November 2019.

The club provided West Ham shirts for the pallbearers to complete the send-off after a request from the family.

This week the club confirmed the Champions Stone funded by C&H readers has now been installed as part of Champions Place.

The Inscription reads:

BEN SMITH

1992-2019

HAMMER FOREVER

The stone is located on the: MABEL ARNOLD panel

Ben’s family are delighted the stone has now been installed and have promised to visit Champions Place to see the stone in person when Covid restrictions allow.
