Incredible how fast fortunes can change in football: Just ask Michail Antonio who went from a training session as West Ham’s record PL goal scorer to a life threatening car crash in just a few seconds. Incredibly, Antonio has rebuilt his career after the surgeons rebuilt his body and now at the age of 36 has a contract with fellow Championship side Watford.
One-time West Ham target Raheem Sterling, at the peak of his game just a couple of seasons ago reportedly earning £1.2 million a month in his Chelsea days, now faces a similar fall from success – for very different reasons – as his career nosedives. Whilst Sterling was hugely fortunate not to have totalled his own car – or anyone else’s – after the shocking videos which were published, predictably he’s now become the player absolutely nobody wants.
According to exWHUEmployee, the Irons were in discussions for a loan move for Sterling as recently as January of this year as he struggled to get game time but (fortuitously) nothing transpired: Sterling’s fall from grace in recent months has been swift and carried out in the public eye.
The fallout means Sterling’s career appears to have hit a low point, according to 67hailhail:

Whilst a lot of his problems may be self inflicted, you can’t help feeling sorry for the player who was once one of England’s brightest prospects.
Fortunate, though, for West Ham that those transfer talks didn’t get off the ground or we could very likely be looking at a deal that rivalled Kalvin Phillips’ stay at West Ham as our ‘worst ever’ loan.
Dodged a bullet there, I’d say.
