How we rated the Irons against Rapid

Hughie hands out his marks

Areola: Spectator for 89 minutes making one gentle save. 6

Johnson: Thankfully VAR saw he had made no contact for a penalty. This kid is so professional. Good stuff 7

Diop: Usual high standard performance 7+

Cresswell: Not a hint of tiredness despite all these games. On top of his game again 7+

Rice: Nice goal and always in charge in midfield 8

Noble: No faulting his passion and some nice passing movements – per haps off the pace a little 6+

Vlasic: Flitted in and out of the game – more to come 6

  1. I know we all see a different game. But 9 for Benrahma ? Really. For me, although he was only on the pitch for 15 minutes, Fornals showed we are a different team when he’s out there. Shame the pass of the match didn’t get the assist it deserved.

You owe him a couple of pints Jarrod. !!

  2. Totally agree . Best player was Rice as always closely followed by Johnson . two very poor players .. Yarmo was awful ,4 out of 10 and Noble same. Probably as good as it gets but he is well past his sell by date and couldn’t even manage the toss . He probably thought Rice was captain which is how it should be . Noble is a bit part player and fine to be Club captain sitting in the stand . COYI
