How we rated the Irons v Bournemouth

|

Hugh hands out his marks

Fabianski: One good save from Rico in the first half but little else to do 6

Fredericks: Much better wing back than he is a defender – no complaints 6

Balbuena: Quiet afternoon against a team with very little to offer 6

Ogbonna: Always in the right place at the right time – good display 7

Cresswell: Determined and enthusiastic but maybe lucky to see VAR overturn a red card for yellow 6.5

Rice: With his captain, dominated midfield but was the junior partner of the two 7.5

Noble: Outstanding and clear man of the match – top passing and great leadership plus two goals 9

Snodgrass: Top display. All over the park making things happen 7.5

Anderson: Looks short on confidence following the Pellegrini reign. Did ok and the goal will help him 6

Fornals: Becoming key in midfield – always looking for space and clearly has an eye for goal 7

Haller: Fantastic goal, and a much better all round display. Held it up well and always looking for assists 7.5

Subs

Lanzini: His best display for some time – looked like a guy with something to prove 6.5

Masuaku: Used as a wing back he’s a good bet and looked dangerous going forward 6

  • Martin Hodgson says:

Brilliant from Noble and Snoddy. Great energy and pressing from the whole team. And great management from Moyes. Loved the bit where he embraced Anderson when he was subbed. We saw this last time with Moyes, discipline, hard work and great man management. 2020 is looking good!

  • Spencer says:

So where are all the ‘Noble out’ crew tonight then?

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

Fair marks. Other than perhaps the first 15 minutes, where we understandably looked a little nervous, this performance was exceptional for me, and back to the West Ham we saw earlier in the season. The way we toyed with them towards the end reminded me of the domination we showed against Norwich. Very much looking forward to what happens next. Well done lads, especially Noble and Snoddy who were tremendous, along with Oggie who I thought was imperious at the back – a clear 8.5 for me. I’m not sure what else he needs to do to get a higher mark than you’ve given, but no complaints.

  • Robert says:

Anderson 6. Are you sure. He was very good today atleast an 8

    • ScottyD says:

Anderson without a doubt is the best player I’ve seen in a West Ham shirt in the 40 plus years I’ve supported them, frustrating yes because you can see the class he has and it’s wasted. I wasn’t pleased with bringing Moyes back but maybe he does understand the club and can sort this mess out, again think the Noble lovers are blinkered too many mistakes for me love the guy been a magnificent servant and still has a part to play but we have better players now.. for me Fornals is really coming to show he was worth the money.. well whatever think we will be fine 8th or 9th place finish job done

  • Malcolm Jones says:

Though Anderson was superb tonight, definitely worth 8 plus

  • PrinceH says:

Lovely team effort! Everyone did what we can and should expect. And a bit more. I think Oggy should be given much more credit than you give. Played like a king.
Happy for Noble who could thrive with a team like Bournemouth around him. Happy for Fornals who really worked his socks off to show he belongs in the team. But I’ll give everybody credit today.

  • Terry says:

Front 3 set the tone by pressing as the whole team did, but that gives defense time to organise, Ogbonna was brilliant tonight, MOM for me, any threat they had he snuffed out immediately, Haller got great goal but still not convinced! Anderson ran a lot but still not convinced either, was impressed by Fornals though, sacrifices himself for the team and worked hard!

  • Jim says:

Anderson an 8. Busy on and off the ball.

  • KEVIN DOLAN says:

Delighted for the lads, effort = results

  • John Harrison says:

Game after game Fornals keeps improving. He’ll be some player over the coming months. Haller’s goal was sensational. But the moment of the night was for me the stellar pass from Rice that set up Anderson’s goal. The guy’s about to become 21. Fornals is 23, Haller is 25, and Diop is 22. We have some VERY good young players! COYI

  • paul Smith says:

some people are blinkered with anderson and he’s often unfairly criticised in my opinion. ran noble close for motm in my opinion.

  • Lance marsh says:

I think this is a fair assessment. I thought I saw match stats that put Bournemouth ahead on possession and pass accuracy, aspects that we can improve and that will in turn enhance performance. Fredericks was better today but he still concerns me defensively. Ogbonna clearly outstanding. There was a moment where a long ball was directed towards a loneseome Haller. He pulled the ball down beautifully, lovely tight control as he held up the ball and when Anderson finally arrived the pass was not quite good enough. But it demonstrated Haller’s impressive ball skills and capacity to hold that ball up. When Anderson, Fornals, Lansing, Antonio etc start running off him effectively there will be many more opportunities created.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Like most would give Anderson an 8 also would give Fornals and Haller 8’s, Masuaku wasn’t playing as a wing back he had a floating role which saw him taking up some positions in central midfield. Noble had as good a game as ever I can remember, hopefully he can maintain that against stronger opposition by the end of the game he and Snoddy were looking more and more leggy which should dictate central midfield is the key area followed by left and right back then keeper and striker to strengthen.

Agree with Moyes that we need to continue to improve defensively, hopefully he can improve Fredericks because he has the pace if he can improve his defensive technique he will be some player.

  • Alhama hammer says:

Masuaku came on as a left sided midfielder rather than wingback, showed promise

  • Trevor says:

Agree with Anderson, a 6 for him because we know he should be head and shoulders above them all if he gets it right. Among the best players in the league just needs the right manager to help bring it out of him.
Thought Haller was a 6 also, same as Anderson has so much more to offer, confidence is key to both.

  • Simon says:

I know its all about opinions but Anderson was terrific, tackling back, more energy and yes ok some things didn’t come off and that’s a bit frustrating at times but no one else in the squad….could have scored from where he received that ball…… I think that gets overlooked just how technically good he really is!

  • Pop Robson says:

I have agreed with all of your ratings with the exception of Anderson who was a 7 at the minimum yesterday. I thought Fornails had yet another improving game too.
We looked liked a team yesterday.
