Irons supporting foodbanks hope to reach £10,000 target

|

Irons supporting foodbanks hope to reach their £10,000 target supporting Newham Foodbanks by boycotting PPV this weekend and making a donation instead.

While the Premier League today agreed to scrap the £14.95 pay per view fee for future games, this weekend’s game against Fulham remains pay per view priced at £14.95!

Since the introduction of the £14.95 PPV charge, Irons Supporting Foodbanks have been asking that fans that boycott PPV to donate a similar amount to the foodbank instead.

At the time of writing, the charity has raised £4,775 nearly halfway to its £10,000 target.

Football supporters across the Premier League have raised over £300,000 so far with over £130,000 coming from Liverpool fans alone.

Irons Supporting Foodbanks is a group of West Ham United fans and friends inspired by the work of other football fan foodbanks around the country.

They collect food and cash donations for Newham Foodbank in Beckton, who supply seven distribution centres in the borough, 7 days a week, and hand out several hundred 3-day emergency food packs every month to families in need. They are also working with other groups to improve conditions for vulnerable adults and children in the Newham community.

They are supported in our efforts by West Ham United FC, the WHU Foundation, LS185, London Legacy Development Corporation, Newham Council, the Met Police, Spire London East Hospital, Expedient Security, and a large number of West Ham and football fans.
