West Ham United have officially confirmed the signing of striker Pablo Felipe Pereira de Jesus.
The €20m deal sees the 22-year-old arrive from Gil Vicente, where he scored ten goals in 13 Primeira Liga appearances this season. Pablo has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at the London Stadium, with the option of a further year.
The transfer was completed with the involvement of Jorge Mendes, who represents Nuno Espírito Santo and played a key role in getting the deal over the line. Pablo spent the morning completing his medical and finalising paperwork ahead of the announcement.
More Firepower On The Way
West Ham now expect to complete the signing of Valentín Castellanos from Lazio over the weekend, meaning Nuno Espírito Santo could have two new strikers available for the crunch clash against Nottingham Forest.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Pablo said:
“I am very happy. I will give my all for this club, leaving everything on the pitch — all my effort, all my dedication.
“The fans really like players who fight for the badge, and I can promise that I will leave every last drop of sweat on the pitch for this club.
“I want to send a strong message that I have come to prove my worth. I know I am a young player, but at this club you have to give your all, and we have to give our best for the club and for our teammates.”
For a club desperate for momentum, West Ham have finally made a fast start to January — and now the pressure is on to make it count.
First thing of note – he’s ageing very quickly. Secondly, he will have to get used to playing in front of crowds bigger than the 5,000 which he has experienced so far.
Really hope that the guy can make a difference. COYI
