Kretinsky faces challenge to show he’s no David Sullivan 2.0 | West Ham News

West Ham’s last three managers have all faced a gradual, game-by-game countdown of deadlines, drama and demands for improvement, which all failed and eventually led to their demise. Who can forget the painful series of ‘must win’ games that both Lopetegui and Graham Potter endured – seemingly without an end – as David Sullivan kicked the can down the road rather than making clear cut, cold, calculating decision to cut the ties with a failing manager.

Sullivan in fact became something of a laughing stock after proclaiming ‘this one is a must – win‘ and then famously  sitting on his hands and not sacking Potter after he’d duly failed to win.

Of course the irony was that all three were dispatched eventually – in differing circumstances but dispatched nonetheless.

How many points would have been saved if Sullivan had fired Potter earlier on in the season?

Worst ever, yet stumbled on with endless ‘must win games’ to try and improve results: Graham Potter was fired eventually anyway and quite possibly the delay cost West Ham their Premier League status

Relegation by two points means that earlier action could have kept the Hammers in the Premier League.

Not just my opinion, but pretty much the favour of the lunchtime West Ham YouTube channels too – that Kretinsky needs to be bold and decisive and prove he’s not simply following the David Sullivan modus operandi and merely kicking the Management can down the road.

A bad manager doesn’t suddenly become one worth saving  merely because of a possible lucky win away at Cardiff on Wednesday night, as Russ from the west ham network points out today in his video entitled “Why are West Ham waiting to sack Nuno| That’s not leadership, that’s indecision”

In essence, Kretinsky – who shies away from the limelight, but according to our own Gonzo on hammers chat, has something of a record of being ruthless with his firing of managers over at Sparta Prague. The Sphinx needs to bring that ruthlessness to bear at West Ham and prove he’s not merely a carbon copy of the former chairman – a David Sullivan 2.0.

Kicking the managerial can down the road merely to save a few million in compensation is a false economy, with promotion to the Premier League reportedly being worth £200 million. Automatic promotion, the club’s stated aim, is looking a very unlikely possibility under Nuno, with West Ham on a downward dive and currently in eighth position.

Nuno Espírito Santo has had over a year in charge yet still can’t get his side playing positive, attacking, fear-free football, even in the second division.

If not by now, then when?

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Curse you Shaun Wright-Phillips.
I still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows another six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser.
Can tell I'm getting old knowing I watched both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old.
Magic.

How are failing managers dealt with at Sparta ?

The plan might be to take us down again this season.

That will pave the way for two promotions and an enormous windfall for the owners. We could (blow) invest the windfall and so much more buying our way to the Premier League title.

We will need to start with a young Arsene, Alex, Jose or Pep installed as our manager and ensure that we win every game convincingly.

Nothing to it. Quite straightforward. Get it done.

Wins at Cardiff and Blackburn won’t mean anything unless he rights all his wrongs.
    Dismissing his stubbornness.
Change goal keeper, back line not playing Morato at left back, midfield include Alvarez or Magassa.
Continue resting Solomon, strikers none reliable so maybe Piroe with Ajala.
Kante and Orford coming on from bench.
    Give Golambeckis another chance.
Score lines need to be convincing Cardiff 1-4 win/Blackburn 1-3 win west ham get their 6pts.
