Leeds promoted with help of Ex West Ham employee

|

Leeds United have been promoted to the Premier League after a 16-year absence.

Their place in the top flight for next season was confirmed by Slaven Bilic’s West Brom whose 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town on Friday guaranteed promotion back to the top flight.

Leeds will now be crowned champions if Brentford do not beat Stoke on Saturday or the Whites then take a point from Sunday’s visit to Derby County.

Argentine Marcelo Bielsa has led the Yorkshire side to promotion in his second season in charge after finishing third in the Championship in 2018-19.

However, one man behind the scene is former West Ham managing Angus Kinnear, after three years at the Hammers overseeing the move to the London Stadium Kinnear joined Leeds in 2017 as their new CEO under owner Andrea Radrizzani.  He oversaw their financial restructuring and was instrumental in the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa and turning the fortune of Leeds around.
