A seventh man has been arrested after fighting between Leicester and West Ham fans just minutes before Khun Vichai’s helicopter crashed. A number of fans were involved in a brawl in Filbert Way, near to the junction with Burnmoor Street, at about 7.30pm on October 27. At about 7.37pm, the club’s owner, Vichai Srivaddhnaprabha’s helicopter crashed on the opposite side of the King Power Stadium, killing all five people on board.
Earlier this week six men were arrested after being identified from CCTV footage. Three Leicester fans aged 29, 29 and 48 and three West Ham fans aged 21, 32 and 56 were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. The 56-year-old man has been released with no further action with the other five being released on conditional bail.
A seventh man, aged 48 years-old and from Leicester, was also arrested yesterday afternoon on suspicion of violent disorder. He has now been released on conditional bail.
Detective Constable Jack Thomas is investigating the disorder. He said: “Our enquiries into identifying those responsible have been ongoing since October last year and we have been working closely with our colleagues in the Metropolitan Police. While no one has reported being injured the actions of those responsible are unacceptable.
“A number of people including families with young children were leaving the stadium after the match. Seven men were arrested earlier today however we still wish to identify those in the CCTV images as they may be able to assist with our enquiries. If you recognise them or have any suspicions about who they may be we would urge you to get in touch.”
