Niall McDonald hands out his marks
Fabianski: Watford weren’t exactly peppering our goal with shots so hard to judge the keeper today. Was due to let in a penalty at some point 6
Zabaleta: Stuck to his task well as personnel rotated around him throughout the game 6
Balbuena: Conceded the penalty, collected a booking and picked up a game-ending injury all-in-one; hopefully not another long-term absentee 5
Diop: Switched sides after the change and picked up Deeney without any problems at all 7
Masuaku: Now reached a point where every defensive lapse is met with groans of inevitability 4
Rice: 50th appearance today, I hope to see several hundred more 7
Noble: Rice looked more comfortable doing the defensive stuff on his own once the skipper was subbed 5
Snodgrass: A day for showing energy and commitment; right up Snodgrass’ street 7
Anderson: This was also a day where you needed a few bits of quality from your creative players and Anderson was below par 6
Antonio: Decent start. After the break his technique seemed to be found wanting at times 5
Hernandez: Doubt there’s many games where he’s missed three of those chances. Decided he couldn’t continue shortly after the third one 6
Subs
Ogbonna: Give him his due, I was impressed with the way he slotted in alongside Diop straightaway 7
Carroll: No attempts on goal and not noticeably sharper than when I last saw him 4
Diangana: On late for Hernandez; a few neat touches and one clever run into the area where he may have drawn a foul 4
I thought we played well, controlled the game and created enough clear chances to win that match by 3 or 4, in terms of the way we played considering all our injuries I thought we were good gave Balbuena a 6 because of his mistake but the rest mostly 7’s with Rice getting an 8, Watford are a good side, very well organised and we pulled them all over the place, Carroll was actually the reason we had so many chances he disrupts their defensive line even when he doesn’t win headers he creates space and opportunities for others because he scares the life out of their defence.
Crazy ratings …. Hernandez 6 .. are you sure ??????. 2 at best ………… and given a point for turning up and a point for being local boy how exactly did our captain get 5 … He was on the pitch for half the game and did nothing . Masuaku no worse than Noble but gets 4 and Anderson who never once got back to help him got 6 . A bit of constructive marking needed and that means points for achievement , not cos you like them or they are local .
You are very welco,e to have a go – message me on facebook
HiHugh
Would love to but not on Facebook COYI
Sadly Zabaleta does not have the legs any longer! and the introduction of Carroll did nothing for us, in fact hindered! as we have to adapt to him, we deserved a draw when it was 0-1 but it was not to be. Disappointing.
Would love to see Silva given a chance against Southampton as we will look to hit them on the break.Unlucky to see Carroll on instead. If Carroll plays we have to get the crosses in and play to his strength otherwise it becomes very frustrating.
