Man U set to hijack City Paqueta move

|

According to recent news reports, Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta, who is also attracting significant interest from the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City.

The midfield is a key area that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS may aim to strengthen, particularly if Casemiro departs. Casemiro has been rumoured to be considering a move to the Saudi Pro League as his performance levels have notably declined. His latest outing was underwhelming during United’s frustrating 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

U.S.-based websites have reported that Manchester United are contemplating a move for Paqueta. This isn’t the first time the Red Devils have shown interest in the West Ham star. Last month, there were reports suggesting United might propose a swap deal involving Harry Maguire to facilitate Paqueta’s transfer to Old Trafford.

However, the idea of using Maguire as part of the deal is widely seen as implausible. Whilst Manchester United’s interest in Paqueta may be genuine, and they could activate his £85m buyout clause like any other team, the suggestion that West Ham would consider a swap involving a central defender nearing the end of his peak years for Paqueta seems quite far-fetched.
