West Ham 0 Fulham 2
Sometimes I really do wonder if David Moyes watches the same game as me. As far as I was concerned, the best team, Fulham, won at The London Stadium. Yes, Michail Antonio’s early chance was a crucial one, but as soon as Fulham scored their first goal, they were the better team.
However, the Hammers’ manager seems to be under the impression that his side were on top for large parts of the game. He also told the assembled media during his post-match press conference that West Ham had the better chances.
For the record, West Ham had 4 shots on target compared to The Cottagers’ 10, with Fabianski being the far busier keeper. It’s also worth noting that The Irons had a couple of very tame headers from Danny Ings, which were statistically classed as shots. Fulham were able to pass the ball into the back of the net, whilst the Hammers were reduced to desperate attempts. . . hardly better chances.
But the Hammers’ manager was defiant as he told reporters, “I thought we had the stronger part of the game for the best part of the first 20 to 25 minutes. As the game went on, we ran out of energy.”
Moyes: We had an attacking team
Moyes continued, “Antonio’s early chance was a huge moment, but we were susceptible to a counter-attack as we had an attacking team trying to win, and it probably went against us in a way as we got done on the counter-attack today.
I’m really disappointed with the whole thing, but I felt as if we started the game relatively well, made chances, but didn’t take the moments when we got them. It just looked like a day where we looked as if we couldn’t take our chances. I genuinely think we had the chances, but we didn’t take them.”
It does make me wonder what chance West Ham have of bouncing back this season when the manager’s appraisal is so unreflective of how the game panned out.
We wasn’t good that’s for sure
Erm, we were.
Fulham just soaked up the pressure, hit us on the break a few times, managed to score another and then they were away and cruising. Doesn’t mean Fulham were rubbish or that West Ham weren’t pressing. We were, we just looked toothless.
Just watched it . Fulham could of been 4 0 up in first half….stop the rubbish. We are **** …like headless chickens ..moyes is deluded …toothless, and well the defending is like watching Sunday league .. won’t be watching or wasting money travelling up yo watch thus shower of **** until moyes goes ….just embarrassing
Spot on Gonz, I really can’t understand Moyes and indeed the Board. They never seem to see what we see.
Making excuses for their failures, is delusion and arrogant. We have played poor for two seasons.
I want Moyes gone and for Sully to sell up.
Has Moyes, EVER taken responsibility for us losing games? Admitted he selected players in the wrong positions? got his tactics wrong? Don’t think so, he looks so painful on rhw sideline these days.
