Manchester United 1-1 West Ham United

Areola:5 Very impressive save stopped a Mbeumo wonder goal. Actually had very little to do but punched corners away well.

Wan Bissaka:8 Helped set up West Ham’s first chance with a good run and cut-back. Constantly probed the home teams defence. Cleared a certain Zirkzee goal off the line. Trademark 1-on-1 tackle thwarted a dangerous Man U attack. Honestly, I lost count of the number of clearances AWB had to do.

Mavropanos:7 Given a really good test by Zirkze. Made some important headers.

Todibo:8 Read the game very well with some decent interceptions. Looks like he’s really enjoying his defending. Todibo looks fit and fired up. Top class.

Diouf:5 Given a really hard time by Diallo and unsurprisingly picked up a card against him. Played a delightful ball through to set Wilson free. Fully committed but had to walk a tightrope and I was surprised to see him emerge for the second half.

Magassa:9 Looks to pass forward where possible and times his tackles well. Still learning but the more I see the more I like, we have some player on our hands. Capped off a brilliant performance with a well taken goal. Highly impressive display. Seemed able to do it all possibly even deserves a 10.

Potts:7 Lucky not to be booked for a foul on Bruno Fernandes, Some very nice touches and good commitment. Marvellous tackle early in the second half kept the game 0-0.

Soucek:6 Excellent pass down the wing helped create a good chance. Took up more of a right sided position to help out Wan Bissaka and made an excellent block on Fernandes. Couldn’t have dome more given the position he was asked to play in and given his skillset.

Manchester United 1-1 West Ham :Soucek replaced Paqueta and allowed Bowen to operate more centrally

Fernandes:6 Early chance blocked by Casemiro. Really unlucky that his excellent block was deflected and played a role in Manchester United’s opener after the whole team had defended well as a unit.

Bowen:6 Much more intensity than his last outing against Liverpool and managed to get closer to Wilson. Unlucky with a good solo run but just missing that cutting edge.

Wilson:5 Isolated and outnumbered but always looking for that half chance.

Substitutes

Kante: Introduced for his Irons debut on 80 mins with the team 1-0 down on 82 mins

Irving: Replaced Potts as part of a double substitution. Caused immediate havoc with an excellent corner which created the goal for Magassa.

Kilman: Replaced Wilson on 88 mins

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

More West Ham moaning is done on a daily basis here 👇👇

Todibo looks much better alongside Mav. Magassa, Potts and Fernandez looking good too. Word too for the away fans who sounded great

Get Magassa was emence tonight, but Todibo being so highly rated ?? Still looks like Zouma’s younger brother to me. No touch, clumsy on his feet, and a left foot, right foot away from disaster. Still, great result, Potts marches on, plus can’t wait to see if Mahassa can replicate and Kante features.

Great performance tonight, was very impressed with our midfield especially working so hard all night. But our man of the match was Wan-Bissake by a mile. The guy was a total beast tonight, once again showing Old Trafford how much of a mistake they made selling him. He was everywhere ⚒️⚒️⚒️

I thought we were getting stronger towards the end of the game and could have knicked it. Was dissapointed with Nunos negative substitutions taking off Wilson and bringing on Kilman etc. could have bought on Marshall for Wilson and Earthy for Souchek. Think we could have bagged 3 points.

Bowen was fantastic yet again. The effort that bloke puts in is unbelievable. and the way he always makes something happen out of the blue to drag us back into games. In this one his header which led to the goal by Mangassa. The way he battles for every ball despite the opposition trying to take him out on numerous occasions. Lost count the amount of times Luke Shaw tried to take him out the game. Because he’s our danger man and they know it. Closest thing we’ve got to the swashbuckler that was Billy Bonds or the great captain that led by example that was Bobby Moore.

    That wasn’t a horrible game.
Todibo and Mavro paired well, with decent result.
Bowen looked gassed. Nuno needs to stop playing him in the middle. (Square pegs, round holes.)
Wilson was left isolated, as usual.
Arieola looked brilliant, apart from his goal kicks.
The youths played well and showed a hunger.
    Lastly, AWB! Take a bow!

  • Gaz says:

Colour commentator described Bowen as looking tired. Agree, and I am tired of looking for the player that was. Had a good final 20 minutes as moved to right. Not a #10.

  • Ian Bishop says:

I thought we played and battled really well tonight and were well worth the point .
So good to see energy in our midfield again and we have got a really good young midfield 3 in Potts , Fernandez and Magassa Now !!
How did Potter never play these 3 together !!
I too would have liked to have seen earthy on for 20 mins but it was an inspired substitute bringing on Irving who’s first touch was an excellent corner .
We really need to work on our throw in’s as all night I thought they were poor ….
Special mention to wan bisaka who was brilliant going forward and defending….. 9 from me
    Trust in Numo 😉

Magassa was a beast tonight and Todibo is at last fit and clearly showing us the reason why we spent so much on him…..The whole team looked and played so much better without a certain Brazilian now lets keep it up with another tough away fixture to come

  • John Ayris says:

Todibo is a different player in recent games. What does George Earthy need to do to get a few minutes ? Decent away point.

  • ricardo says:

A golden point. Great effort by West Ham in defense until they fell behind. Thereafter surfaced the tenacity and personality required to equalize. Nuno’s changes came late, but worked. Magassa: nicely done.
