Michael Owen predicts West Ham result

|

Former Liverpool player Michael Owen believes that his former team will pick up another three points against West Ham tonight at the London Stadium.

Liverpool enter the game with a 16-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, and it could very well be 19 points come the end of the night.

Liverpool will be without Mane against the Hammers, as he injured his hamstring during Liverpool’s 2-1 Premier League away victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.

Regardless, Owen believes that Liverpool’s form is far too strong, and that itself will be the difference in this particular clash.

Owen told Bet Victor: “Liverpool will go 19 points clear at the top of the Premier League if they win at the London Stadium midweek as the records continue to tumble for the Reds this season. Yes, they were held to a 2-2 draw following a terrific comeback from Shrewsbury in the FA Cup on Sunday, but they have picked up 67 out of a possible 69 points so far this season and that is five more than any other side have achieved after 23 league games in English top-flight history.

“When you consider the great Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City sides of the past, that is a remarkable achievement.

“David Moyes saw his side fail to have a shot on target until the 90th minute against West Brom in the FA Cup at the weekend and he will demand an improved showing from his side against the league leaders.

“Liverpool are again likely to be without Sadio Mane who limped off against Wolves at Molineux a week ago with a troubled hamstring, but they are so resilient and determined that I believe they will pick up another three points even though the hosts are fighting for their Premier League lives.

Claret and Hugh say:

It is hard to predict anything but a Liverpool tonight against the league leaders however if there is one thing we have learnt about over the years there are unpredictable.

We are just as likely to lose 1-0 to a ten men West Brom reserve side in the FA Cup then pull off a miracle 1-0 win against the Premier League leaders in a shock result.

That said today is likely to be about damage limitation and not conceding too many goals, a loss of 4-0 or more would put us in the bottom three.
