Jarrod Bowen admits he was sickened by dropping two points at Newcastle.

Like the rest of us he was obviously shocked to the core by the second equaliser as the Irons were truly imposing themselves on what is a very decent Newcastle team.

Having scored early and then weathered an early storm from some classy Geordie play, to grab another goal and conceded with a couple of minutes is one of the bitterest pills he and us had to suffer.

The stats spoke for themselves with the Irons having more shots and more than holding their own in what was expected to be a very difficult game.

Bowen, as his been explained elsewhere , more than played his part in a match which leaves us four points in front of the bottom three with a much better goal difference.

Should, for example, we  only manage four more draws and no further wins it leaves those below us needing to win three games from the remaining five when they have only managed only seven each from 33.

Given their fixtures that looks very difficult indeed!

Bowen, meanwhile, said at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/july/05-july/jarrod-bowen-performance-will-help-build-our-momentum“I think it should have been three points. We’re just disappointed with the way we scored the first goal and conceded soon after, then the same happened with the second goal.

“We worked so hard to get that second goal, so to concede a couple of minutes later is a real sickener, but it’s a point on the road and a point towards survival, so we’ll take it.

“We’re just going to try and pick up as many points as we can. We wanted to come here and get three points today, we couldn’t get that but we got a point.

“I think at this stage of the season it’s all about confidence and momentum. We got three points against Chelsea and came into the game confident.

“Then we’ve got a point away from home, and any point away from home is good. We’re disappointed that we didn’t get three, but we can use this again for when we play Burnley on Wednesday.”
