MOM Rice happy to take the point

|

Man of the match Declan Rice was celebrating a point and swallowing his disappointment at the late deflected goal which deprived the Irons of another two.

Speaking to BT Sport immediately after the game the teenager declared: “It was really hard after Nobes got the red but we’ll take the point.

I thought that given we were playing with ten men we were excellent and at half time in the dressing room we said we would have to fight for everything and that’s what we did.”

Commenting on Michael Oliver’s decision to show the captain red Dec said: ” I haven’t seen it but if you go in too high then it’s a sending off.”

And he showed his maturity when told that  Gareth Southgate had been in the crowd watching his performance and was asked whether he had come to a decision on his international future.

He said: “I’m just focused on playing for West Ham at the moment.”
