Moore, Peters, Hurst statue defaced

|

The statue featuring West Ham’s Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst has been defaced following the Irons  2-1 win over Chelsea.

www.kumb.com report that a small tin of sky blue paint was tipped over the base of the sculpture some time on Saturday evening, hours after the game at Upton Park.

This is  the third time in recent years that the statue at the junction of Green Street and Barking Road has been defaced. Millwall supporters claimed responsibility for at least one previous case of vandalism.

Kumb asks for anyone with any information regarding this incident are urged to contact the Met via phone on 101 or via the web. We join them in that appeal.
