David Moyes has used the lockdown period to really get to know his players better than previously and is hopeful that will be key when the action starts on Saturday evening.
Speaking to reporters the manager said: “I think this period has given us a better feeling and a better chance to get to know them all. I hope that will help. its even me a chance to see some of the players who have been injured and not been around the team.”
And he made it clear that each of the squad has a clan sheet as the battle for survival starts saying: They have all got a fresh opportunity and a chance to show what they can do. But they need to be doing it regular, and when they do get the chance they need to say ‘yeah, I’m going to take it.’
What we don’t know is anybody’s form. It might be the same it might be completely different. But I think when you’re a player you want to come back and make sure you’re in the team. I’m hoping that’s the case.
We need our players on top form and I’ve been pleased with them. But I’ve not had the friendlies to really see where the form is. I can only go with what I’ve seen in training and I’m pleased with them all.”
