David Moyes is ready to ensure Jamie Vardy’s meagre scoring record against West Ham remains just that when the sides clash at the London Stadium on Monday evening.
The Foxes number 9 has not scored in five games against us but the manager is making sure – as far as he can – that remains the case.
The Hammers scored six goals against City last season in achieving the double over them and a repeat would be more than the doctor ordered!
However, there will need to be an improvement on what we saw against Newcastle last week when we conceded a couple of poor goals in the 4-2 win.
Moyes will surely have been working hard on the defence with the backroom staff ahead of a game which promises to see the Hammers counter-attacked at pace by an opposition which can score out of the blue as a result.
And speaking at his pre-match presser Moysie said: “I think you have to be collectively trying to look after Jamie Vardy. He is a terrific player and looks as if he is getting better.
“I like him, I like the way he goes about his business, he looks as if he is a team player as well and does the work for the team, but he comes up with the goods and the goals.
“I would not say it makes me any more confident because of what we’ve done last year as we’ve moved to a new season, but I think that was a great achievement in itself because Leicester are a terrific team.
Brendan Rodgers has done a great job and he has them playing really well.”
