Moyes slams Watford for lack of decency

|

David Moyes has barely spared a moment in savaging Watford’s ownership over the sacking of Nigel Pearson.

The former Hornets boss was fired following the 3-1 defeat at the London Stadium and was followed by Hayden Mullins as caretaker boss ( aren’t they all after six since 2017?).

It didn’t exactly have an immediate impact as the team collapsed against Manchester City and crashed into the relegation zone.

That was entirely predictable and beyond Vicarage Road there will be many hoping that a club that treats people with near contempt finds its way into the Championship.

And that could easily happen with the team facing Arsenal  at the weekend who will want to put the defeat against Villa right.

Moyes , meanwhile made it clear that he had little but contempt for the club’s powers-that-be when talking to reporters ahead of the game against Manchester United later.

He said: “I don’t how everybody felt but if you said to me Nigel Pearson deserved to lose his job at Watford I would have definitely said not.

I think he has done a brilliant job at getting Watford out of relegation when he took over and into a position of safety.

I spoke to Nigel after the game, I think his contract was due to run out in two weeks anyway, that was it, so the club didn’t even have the decency to let him finish the season off..

What manager would want to work for an ownership that is going to treat you like that. Most people know Nigel, a really good fella.

If he had done a bad job you could have turned around and said maybe he is in jeopardy but as far as I can see I think he has done a really good job.”
