Moyes wants automatic contract extension

West Ham manager David Moyes has vowed to achieve great things with the Hammers to force the board to honour an automatic renew to his contract at the end of his initial 18-month deal.

Moyes told reporters earlier this week “This time I’m going to make it so there’s no choice but to renew. There’s a clause in there and I’m going to make it impossible to ignore that, that’s my plan.”

Although the exact terms of the clause permitting an automatic extension of at least 12 months are not known it is believed to require certain league position performances to be achieved to be activated.

The 56-year-old is reported to have originally wanted a three-year contract to return to West Ham when he was approached to replace Manuel Pellegrini last week but compromised on an initial 18-month contract after a clause was added including an automatic extension between 12 and 18 months.
