The race for Union Saint-Gilloise striker Mohamed Amoura is heating up as Newcastle United enters the fray, according to L’Equipe. Amoura’s impressive form in Belgium has attracted significant interest from several European clubs.

The Algerian striker has been on fire this season, amassing 23 goals and 6 assists across all competitions. This remarkable performance has put him on the radar of top clubs seeking attacking reinforcements.

West Ham United, who previously attempted to sign Amoura in January, remains keen on acquiring him. The Hammers are looking for a long-term successor to Michail Antonio, and Amoura fits the bill. However, they might also need immediate back-up for Antonio in the short term.

Adding another dimension to the chase is Newcastle United’s reported interest. The Magpies are in the market for a new striker, not to replace Alexander Isak, but to succeed Callum Wilson.

Having signed Amoura from FC Lugano for just €3 million last summer, Union Saint-Gilloise is looking to capitalise on his impressive form. Their asking price is a hefty €20 million, and reports suggest West Ham’s initial offer of €15 million fell short of this valuation.

The €20 million price tag is likely well within the reach of both West Ham and Newcastle. However, some French clubs previously interested in Amoura, such as Lyon and Marseille, might be hesitant to meet this demand and may seek negotiations.

With a potential exit from Belgium on the horizon, Amoura is likely seeking a more significant challenge in a more prestigious league. The interest from Premier League clubs undoubtedly presents an attractive proposition.

The competition for Amoura’s signature promises to be fierce. West Ham, with their established interest, and Newcastle, with their financial muscle, are the frontrunners. However, French clubs could still challenge if a suitable offer is negotiated. Ultimately, the club that meets Union Saint-Gilloise’s valuation and aligns with Amoura’s ambitions will secure his signing.
