West Ham right back Jeremy Ngakia has reportedly rejected a short term contract which would allow the Hammers to use him until the end of the resumed season.
And according to The Guardian at https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jun/07/west-ham-jeremy-ngakia-will-not-sign-deal-to-see-out-premier-league-season he is unlikely as a result to play a part in their battle against relegation as we reported a couple of weeks ago.
There was a slim hope that at the very least the boy would agree to seeing the season out before quitting the Irons but they seem to have finally bitten the dust.
It’s a scenario which clearly appears to reflect some ill will and bitterness on both sides of the fence and which now appears impossible to solve.
West Ham were dismayed when Ngakia turned down a new multi-year deal last month, believed to be worth £5,000 a week plus appearance bonuses.
Now it seems that attempts to have the academy graduate change his mind have been snubbed and as a result it would be surprising were he to appear against either Wolves or Spurs.
Although he is available for those two games David Moyes may feel that he would be unready given the situation which has existed between him and the club.
Markus made a good point 3 or 4 promising youngsters want to leave at present! None are ready for first team action yet so why the rush?!!
We dont know the full story – but it is very disappointing – like others I am now hoping that Ben Johnson makes the grade – and goes on to have a better career than Ngakia – I recently read a story where Oxford paid full tribute to West Ham for his career – let us see what Ngakia has to say later on
Well that is a good kick in the balls of the Academy!
The time and money spent on developing his game had not been appreciated. It really goes to show that there is absolutely no loyalty to a club. I have always said agents are an unnecessary evil for the game in general, and it appears that this is good examples of an agent playing on the boys ego.
I can picture the scene now, when he makes his debut at whatever club he ends up at,
He will be kissing the badge at every opportunity, then when his contract is up for renewal
He will demand a ludicrous amount again.
I’m sure he will get one heck of a welcome whenever he returns to play against the team
that gave his chance to begin his career.
It’s really sad that the young man is giving out all the wrong signals. He really should have signed a new deal; if only for a year. He has plenty of time to develop his game further.
He is being badly advised. There is no guarantee another club will mentor his game as well as West Ham. They will also be concerned about how he has treated West Ham. The young man really needs to rein-in his ego.
Get rid. Good luck to him . He will nee. Probably disappear from sight.
The almost certainly had something lined up, be interesting to see how quickly he ‘finds’ a new club. However, I’ve seen reports saying that a number of youngster are looking to move on. Does make you wonder why!
I love how agents get blamed… but we pay Wilshire over 70 k a week and he never plays… clubs ran like a circus this should of been done months and months ago.
You are wrong to assume negotiations strart 2-3 weeks before refusal – this has been going ojn for six months as explained in previous stories
Wot before he had prove any worth at all?
Love the way, the club gets blamed for a greedy agent. The fact that he refuses to see out the season, says everything about the player and his agent. Good riddance. Be interesting to see where his career ends up. Not a great time to be a footballer without a contract. There’s going to be hundreds if not thousands from the Championship down that will be without a job and most would have jumped at this chance.
Time to move on, he’s played about 5 hours of football and we still be here when him and his greedy agent have long gone.
Probably end up sitting in the reserves for someone next year instead of playing a season in our first team and then getting another improved contract.
Can’t say I would be rushing to sign him if I was another club, they will have the same problem in the near future if this is anything to go by, imagine a 18 year old not wanting to play first team football.
Wrong attitude…
I was impressed with this lad he was just what we needed and came along at the right time. He would have got regular game time with us but has instead chosen to be taken in by a greedy agent I can only see this going wrong for him like Oxford and others who believe the hype.
There is no turning back on this now he has made his bed and will have to lie in it. He could of been a fan’s favourite like Declan it was one of the most important positions we filled with him saving us money for others.
No one is bigger than our club especially one who has only made a handful of appearances. I hope Ben Johnson can step up and make the grade.
