West Ham fans will breathe a sigh of relief following the news that Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League have signed Josh Brownhill.
The 29-year-old former Burnley midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium following talks in June. However, Hammers boss Graham Potter decided against signing the free agent and instead focused on reducing the average age of his squad.
Still, many West Ham fans feared the club might fail to strengthen properly in midfield and announce Brownhill on deadline day as a “Sullivan special.”
There was never any real chance of that happening, as Claret & Hugh reported early last month. And with the arrivals of Magassa and Mateus Fernandes, Potter clearly got his way.
As for Brownhill, he is understood to have rejected offers from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City before agreeing a mega-money move to Saudi Arabia. It’s life-changing money, with the former Clarets captain set to pocket a huge signing-on fee and a net weekly salary of more than £100k. It’s highly unlikely any other league in the world would offer such terms.
Great comment on the BBC website. Looking forward to joining up with my new Saudi Arabian team. What attracted me was the Formation the team play …….
I dont know him – I wish him well …make your money in your shor career. But really – mind blowing truth bending there Josh!
Everyone’s an expert when it comes to having an opinion on football – like belly buttons we’ve all got one Gonzo!
However, when it comes to the club hierarchy one thing is guaranteed to get them to sit up and listen. DON’T ATTEND HOME GAMES, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM WHUFC UNTIL THEYRE GONE!

This site was inundated with people saying they didn’t want Josh Brownhill and there was even more on social media.
