Noble owns up to a “terrible” start

|

Mark Noble admitted the Hammers could have been pushed to the point of no return by Fulham in the first twn minutes of the 3-1 win over their London neighbours.

But he declared: “We were absolutely terrible in the first ten minutes and they could have had three goals but we dealt with it.

“We got the equaliser and although it was handball we had one scored against us a couple of weeks ago that was clearly offside so it’s all about getting the rub of the green.

“After that we went on to dominate the game and Fulham are a really good side who create a lot of chances.”

ClaretandHugh says: “That’s a pretty fair summary of things from the captain who himself was in fine form in the middle of the park. He rarely wasted a pass and as always making decent runs alongside the again hugely impressive Declan Rice. Just as in the first game at Craven Cottage Fulham created some real moments of danger particularly  during that first 10 minutes when veteran Zabaleta was responsible for allowing a couple of very problematical moments. But slowly the Irons picked things up and although – as is the case with this team of ours – probably made life a lot more difficult than it should have been. And after that deeply worrying start it we were the team creating the real chances although to their credit the Cottagers were never ready to hoist a white flag until Antonio had put it all beyond them and broke their hearts with a 90th minute winner.
