Pellegrini clarifies Lucas Perez disagreement

|

Live TV match commentary at Goodison this afternoon suggested that Hammer Lucas Perez refused to warm up for Manuel Pellegrini when asked to come on as a substitute for the injured Marko Arnautovic. TV coverage zoomed in on a seemingly unimpressed Lucas and Pellegrini was asked by reporters to clarify the situation in his post-match interview.

Pellegrini smiled and explained “I asked Luca to go in for Marko because he was injured, Luca was sitting on the bench and Antonio was ready so I didn’t want to wait and I changed immediately for Antonio”

So it appears that it wasn’t so much Lucas refused to warm up then that he got the hump because Pellegrini changed his mind on the substitution as Antonio was already warmed up. Maybe Lucas will now get the message to keep himself warm in case of an injury on the pitch from now on but it seems another storm in a teacup in reality.
