Pellegrini turns down new role

|

Former West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly turned down the offer to manage Ecuador in the qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup 2022 and the Copa América.

A report carried by the La Cuarta newspaper and repeated by the Spanish media claimed the 67-year-old rejected the job offer because he believes he has a moral commitment to his own country adding that if he ever agreed to work with a South American national team it would have to be Chile.

Earlier this week the former Hammers boss was linked to a potential return to Malaga after the incumbent was suspended when a video was leaked online. Pellegrini had a successful spell managing the Spanish team between 2010-2013

West Ham are still paying the former manager and negotiating a compensation package through lawyers although if he were to find another role quickly it would save the Hammers a lot of money in pay offs.
