Plans to get fans back into stadiums “being worked on”

|

Football fans have been giving some new hope that a return to stadiums is going to happen in the not too distant future.

Hints that the government can may ease supporters back into their seats came after Secretary of State for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport Oliver Dowden declared plans were now being worked on.

It’s difficult to see how any serious assurances can be given in the current circumstances but using Twitter the Conservative MP appeared keen to give fans some hope that it was on the cards.

There had been persistent rumours that no form of live performance would be allowed until April of next year as far as the arts and sport was concerned.

Writing on his official account, Dowden said: ‘Rumours of performances being cancelled until April is not govt policy. Certainty is hard in a pandemic but know this is important for planning.’

Football fans have been handed hope that they could soon be back inside the stadiums

Football supporters have been away from stadiums since early March, when the UK made its first lockdown reaction to the rapidly growing coronavirus pandemic.

Since March the only people in the stands have been substitutes, coaches and limited media

Fans have not been seen inside the grounds since Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid on March 11.

ClaretandHugh says: We are all as keen to hang onto a hope that we will be back in the stadia sooner rather than later but the reality is nobody – including government ministers – really have much of a clue until we see numbers coming down and vaccine/s become available over the next few weeks. One of the developers of the Pzizer vaccine said recently that life would be back to normal by next winter and my guess is that we may well see some socially distanced football live from around March. The only certainty is uncertainty!
