ClaretandHugh understands that police will return to West Ham games for the match against Accrington Stanley and beyond after high powered talks between the club and London Stadium operators today.
Urgent day long talks have been going on at the club aimed at finding a solution to the stewarding problems which saw so many issues arise during the game against Watford.
As we reported this morning the club has been desperate for the force to return after seeing the London stadium operators struggle with segregation, stewarding and general terracing problems which overspilled into violence during the game against Watford.
But tonight it appears the club has on its battle for the police to return after continually pushing the case. The expense – once the plan is rubber stamped – will be footed by the operators.
Our top source told us: “It seems agreed that policing is the way forward and we expect it to happen against Accrington and thereafter.”
And within the last few seconds the club has posted a statement on the official website which confirms our information.
It reads: “West Ham United undertook a full investigation into the crowd issues immediately after Saturday’s game with Watford and today held a productive meeting with stadium owners E20. Whilst West Ham United do not hold the Safety Certificate (this is held by LS185) or control the security at the stadium, the Club is doing everything possible within its jurisdiction to help provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all supporters.
This includes a more robust and secure line of segregation between the home and visiting fans as specified by the Club. We have been assured this will be in place ahead of the next match.
Supporters are requested to provide as much information as possible, as the more intelligence the Club have the more proactive and focused all efforts to clamp down on antisocial behaviour will be. The Club will act on every piece of evidence all of which will be collated and treated in the strictest of confidence.
The Club now appeals to all supporters to come together and support West Ham in the famous way we have historically been so proud of.”
So the old bill are now arriving ? Funny how that’s been sorted so quickly after the board took some hammer!
I should think when there is people punching sh*t out of each other in the stands it gets to the point when the Old Bill have to get involved whether they want to or not 😉
True Rads should have been there in the 1st place 🙂
I don’t think police should have been there since the beginning, don’t get me wrong, at this point it’s clear we need them. But Upton Park stewards should’ve been a must!
There are** so called mental supporters** that will never behave?? Every club has them,, it will always be.
