Poll result: Should Irons pay £300k for claret carpet

|

A big majority of West Ham fans have told the club to forget about paying £300k a year for a claret surround at the London Stadium.

The Hammers have been involved in an ongoing series of rows with owners E20, none more emotional than the carpet which would give a feeling of ‘home’ to the stadium.

However, E20 have now put a price of £300k a year on the carpet despite there being no advertising or sponsorship advantage to them given that Premier League rues prohibit that.

ClaretandHugh asked its readers whether the club should agree to pay the £300k annually or walk away from talks and the result was clear cut.

A total of 662 voters said that they should walk away ( 75.74 per cent of those polled) with 212 (24.62 pc) saying they should pay the £300k on an annual basis.

I have no issue with a one off fee, but paying for someone else’s incompetence should be a one off not a regular event.
