Potts: “This is good for the academy”

|

pottsDan Potts is delighted that he, Reece Burke and Elliot Lee are putting the Hammers academy back in the spotlight.

Manager Sam Allardyce certainly hasn’t been scared to plunge the youngsters into pre-season action.

And when Reece Burke scored the winner against Sampdoria from a Lee ball in there was cause for great celebrations.

Potts admitted that he’d “loved” the game against Samp coming on  as sub for injured Aaron Cresswell.

He told the official club site: “Then seeing Elliot Lee and Reece come on late on and not do themselves any harm either by combining for the winner, it was good for the Academy. More importantly, it was good to round-off the pre-season with a win.

He added: “It’s coming up to three years now since my debut and I’m lucky to have got a few sniffs in the first team in this pre-season and hopefully I’ve done myself no harm. Now I want to push on even further.
