Pressure is really on for this Hammer

|

Said Benrahma is set to find out a lot about himself this season given the signings the club has made during the summer!

It was one thing when his only serious opposition for a first team place was a Manu Lanzini, whose form had never been the same since a bad pre-World Cup injury way back.

Now, however, we could hardly see a more different situation at the club where the competition for places is going to be more intense than in several years.

The arrival of Paqueta, Ward-Prowse, Alvaraz and Kudus following the departure of Declan Rice suggests that Said may be the guy in danger of losing his place on a pretty regular basis.

In many respects I like what the guy does on the pitch where he often produces the most dazzling of runs but then comes the big snag  – far to often there is no end product.

The difference with Paqueta for example is that he can produce better runs and trickery before fabulous assists to the likes of Bowen that change games and I’m not forgetting one made by Benny for the No 20.

Ward-Prowse’s all round game is superior and the set piece anility is astonishing and if all we read of Kudus turns out to be the case we have three midfielders as good as any around and we have yet to mention the incredibly hard working Pablo Fornals.

Competition for places is the key to everything and can be the making of players – I really hope this turns out to be the case with the former Brentford man!
