The Irons’ trip to Lincoln City on Wednesday represents an immediate opportunity to correct the mediocre exhibition which the side put on against QPR.
More aggression, drive and attacking threat is surely the order of the day against the league’s new boys who don’t exactly stand tall as Championship contenders and West Ham are surely odds-on favourites.
There seems a groundswell of opinion this weekend that the time has come to end the Mads Hermansen experiment and revert to the tried and tested Alphonse Areola in West Ham’s goal.

Neither goal keeper has inspired rock solid confidence since Nuno arrived a year ago
“Enough is enough’ trumpets one West Ham fan site, claiming ‘Hermansen continues to show he’s not good enough”
Several other opinions this Weekend suggest Areola inspires far more confidence amongst his own players.
Clearly the former French No.3 is now ‘injury free’ and back in training – from West Ham’s own Rush Green photo library evidently the rift between Nuno and his second choice keeper looks healed – so, perhaps it is, indeed, time to bring Areola in from the cold.

Better shot stopper? Areola’s ability has never been in doubt
To my mind there’s never been an issue with his shot stopping ability, simply a reluctance to distribute the ball fast. He may not have Hermansen’s ability with his feet but if he can prove more confidence-inspiring for his defence there’s absolutely a case for a recall.
From Memory, the Frenchman hasn’t featured in a competitive fixture within Nuno’s side since March of this year and has reportedly been missing in recent weeks with an unspecified ‘knock’.
Time to call ‘time’ – for the time being – on Hermansen’s tenure between the posts? It’d be a brave call with the Hammers unbeaten in seven, that’s for sure.
Ask yourself of the goals conceded this season how many could be put down to goal keeper error? Is he better or worse at coming for the ball in his area. We know he’s better with the ball at his feet so nother of them are perfect you choose who and hope it works out
I don’t disagree but this is a strangely timed article regarding Hermansen. The game against QPR was awful but other than a first half save he barely had anything to do. I would have thought a change of coach would have more impact at this time. Nuno is navigating hi way to a weak positioned playoff place. It’s time Kretinsky realised his mistake at retaining Nuno and set Koppen to find a replacement coach.
It’s not the keeper that’s the issue but the managers tinkering and inability to get the side to start the game on the front foot and with a high tempo
As a side wie have to get in the fight, be aggressive and then earn the right to play
both very average keepers, both have pluses and minuses.
Areola is very weak on crosses, which is a must in this division. so just based on that I would carry on as is.
Although our very slow play generally starts with Hermason messing around on the ball bringing on pressure..
