Ratings 2 Irons v Newcastle

|

CandH’s ratings man Niall McDonald gves his marks on yesterday’s win

Fabianski: The goals aside, a pretty quiet afternoon as Newcastle’s early threat petered out 6
Coufal: Took a little while to get going, seemed to be up to speed by the end 6
Dawson: Not his most imperious display. Tough going against Wilson, easier later as Newcastle started going more direct 6
Ogbonna: Also struggled in the first-half, more comfortable after the break, albeit against less threat 6
Cresswell: One of the brighter first-half performances 7
Rice: Pretty anonymous before be transformed into a marauding, driving dynamo with about half an hour left 7
Soucek: Brilliant anticipation following up the spot kick to get his first of (hopefully) many goals this season 7
Fornals: Usual hard-work and won an important, if soft, penalty 7
Bowen: Impressed in bursts, should really have put away a chance brilliantly created 6
Benrahma: What a start to the season – a goal and assist, and far more involved 8
Antonio: Not the best penalty any of us have ever seen but, that aside, another great display leading the line 8

Subs
Fredericks: On for Benrhama to enable the move to a back five 5
Yarmolenko: On late for the first win bonus of the seasonĀ  No rating
Johnson: As above… No rating
