CandH’s No 1 ratings man Niall McDonald hands out his first marks of the new season
Fabianski: Fell foul of one of the many intrusions from VAR; a couple of decent saves before the interval 6
Fredericks: Better equipped to deal with City’s movement than Cresswell; got into good crossing areas in the second-half 6
Diop: A few timely challenges and clearances 5
Balbuena: Given responsibility for marking Jesus and stayed pretty close to him 6
Cresswell: A very tough afternoon. Even at his peak he’d have been left for dead by City’s pace in his side, hard to criticise too much today 4
Rice: Had a massive amount to do today; kept his composure well 6
Wilshere: Seemed to find the pace of the game a bit sharp; drew a number of free kicks to break up the play 5
Anderson: A bright start. Hopefully the injury to his right leg isn’t serious 6
Lanzini: Some lovely passing and movement early on, found it hard to play through City as the game wore on 6
Antonio: A pretty typical display before being subbed at the interval 5
Haller: Fans of a big centre-forward rejoice!! Excellent touch, hold up play and lay offs. Not swamped with support from team mates, but a promising debut 7
Subs
Fornals: Played out wide and found limited chances to get involved 4
Snodgrass: Introduced to bring some fresh legs as the game opened up 4
Hernandez: A pretty typical substitute effort – a generous 4!!
Watched a different game to me !! Chicharito a 4 for 3 touches of the ball … REALLY ??
How can you possibly give Chicharito same rating as Robert Snodgrass? Snoddy had real impact when he arrived; same cannot be said of Chich
Fredericks was woeful, he had so many opportunities to cross the ball, couldn’t get it past the first man, also gave the ball away via a throw in that led to a goal,
A 3 from me
