Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is this morning being reported as eyeing up a possible reunion with his former Paris St-Germain star Marquinhos.
The report comes from the Mirror(per Football.London) and the 27 year old Brazilian is being seen as a cheaper option to Declan Rice who as we know has a £100 million price tag on him.
Marquinhos has emerged as Brazil’s prime central defensive option, also his ability to operate from deep down the midfield depicts versatility while attuning to various formations.
The ex-Corinthians star has spent eight years in Paris following a €31.4m summer move from Romain 2013. He took little time to settle in and has featured more than 300 times already.
News of Tuchel’s interest will be another relief for Hammers fans who have seen Manchester United look elsewhere for signings whilst City signing Fernandinho for another year has also taken the pressure off.
He worked with Marquinhos as PSG boss between 2018-20 and whilst reportedly an admirer of Declan’s would be keen to snap up the Brazilian who whilst central defence is his first position is fully effective in defensive midfield.
They don’t even play the same position, so I don’t get how he is a “Rice alternative”.
Because if you check as we did he plays central defence AND defensive midfield
I’ve watched lots of Marquinhos throughout the years for both PSG and the Brazil national team and he is absolutely not a DM. He’s only ever played DM when PSG had injury problems and he had to cover there. He is most definitely a CB.
This would be like saying Declan Rice is a CB.
fair enough chris
