Report: Irons plan competition during World Cup

|

David Moyes – having said that there will be Hammers friendly games over the World Cup break – is believed ready set to include the Betway Cup competition in his plans.

According to NowNews West Ham – Six Foot Two (6foot2.co.uk)  the traditional pre-season Betway Cup game, having been cancelled pre season as the new London Stadium West stand hadn’t received its safety certificate. will now run whilst the Quatar competition is on.

Moues explained a few days ago that he was planning some friendlies over the Works Cup and the competition is a requirement of the contract with the shirt sponsors,

And it may even be that a mini knockout competition for the Betway cup may include other Premier League clubs also keen to keep their players fit.

However. the games are unlikely to be played in the London Stadium as a friendly costs around £300,000 to stage to the London Stadium owners so it would be difficult to  break even.
