West Ham have made a formal bid for Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior, according to a report from Italian outlet Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Hammers are scrambling to sign a centre-back after Issa Diop forced through a move to Fulham by refusing to play against Manchester City last weekend and Kiwior appears to have become a target.
Kiwior plays primarily as a centre-back but can also play at left-back and in defensive midfield.
He is 22 and joined the Serie A club last year, making a total of 24 first-team appearances for the club, having previously played for Slovakian club MSK Zilina.
The Irons are reported to have made an offer of €12m (£10.1m) for the Poland international, who has won two caps for his country, and it looks as though his versatility appeals to boss David Moyes.
However, the report also claims Kiwior is currently minded to stay in Italy as opposed to making the move to England.
The Irons face Nottingham Forest on Sunday and are likely to again be forced to play Ben Johnson as a makeshift centre-back.
No point bidding if he wants to stay , same old !
Beginning to lose track of the number of centre backs for whom West Ham has allegedly made offers in the last week. It would be good to actually sign one.
