Report: New offer on way for Paqueta


Lucas Paqueta has been linked with a January move from West Ham to Newcastle United

Lucas Paqueta is reportedly now a target for Newcastle United in January.

Much of course is going to depend on the outcome of the betting probe in which he is involved but according to a media report Eddie Howe sees him as the midfield quality he requires.

He was also wanted by Manchester City who are reported to be ready with a near £70 million offer but of course pulled it when news of the probe broke.

Paqueta has declared himself entirely innocent and the Hammers are facing an anxious wait while the FA deliberate on the issue.

According to Fichajes, Newcastle may be set to line up an offer in the winter window.

Manager Eddie Howe is reported as wanting Paqueta as he looks for real quality with the club  preparing to take part in the   Champions League .

Paqueta scored five goals and contributed seven assists during his debut season for West Ham after a £51m move from Lyon in August 2022.

And he of course He set up Jarrod Bowen to score West Ham’s winner in the UEFA Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina in Prague.
