Report: West Ham battle Everton for Austrian

|

West Ham are reportedly battling Everton for Augsburg defender Martin Hinteregger claim the Sun newspaper.

The highly-rated centre-back was outstanding in the Bundesliga last season and his performances have put a posse of European clubs on alert. The 25-year-old is regarded as one of the best young central defenders in Germany and valued at a bargain £13million.  The left-sided central defender is also being tracked by Italian giants Inter Milan who are also looking to bolster their defensive options.

Club insiders have told Claret and Hugh that a backup striker and another midfielder are the two main priorities at the moment with replacements for Obiang and/or Kouyate also a priority should one or both be allowed to leave. With the signing Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop this summer with Declan Rice and Angelo Ogbonna also available in the same position the chances of signing another centre-back seems remote despite Winston Reid’s long-term absence of up to nine months as he faces more knee surgery.
