West Ham have trailed the new ‘New Balance’ kit which will be unveiled officially on Thursday 2nd July, according to the club’s own web site.

Many have speculated on the design with ‘leaked’ info abounding all over the internet hinting that it will be based on the Hammers’ iconic FILA kit: Several suggest, like @westhamcentral, that the home and away kits will bear more than a passing resemblance to more famous kit of yesteryear:

“Home kit will be unveiled on 2nd July. It will be inspired the 2001-03 Fila kit.”

Which, in case you missed it, was the kit which Paolo Di Canio and Joe Cole and Co. wore when the ‘too good to go down‘ Hammers were relegated in 2003 with 42 points. Ironic? yep.

Here’s the classic ‘Dr Martens’ shirt from that era which is said to be the basis for the 2026/7 Championship kit.

Remember also that the betting company ban which applied in the Premier League is not applicable in the Championship – which is sponsored by SkyBet – but there a rumours that current shirt front sponsors Boyle Sports are cooling on renewing their agreement with West Ham. Why ever that might be.

Purists will be happy (if West Ham fans ever are) to see the reinstatement of the traditional blue sleeves whilst the away kit – if true to the 2001 design – would be the far more familiar blue with two claret hoops once again, and none of the black, white or orange-flamed nonsense of recent years.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
