Proving that they can, in fact, move quietly and swiftly to get their transfer business done without weeks of speculation or unnecessary delay, West Ham United have announced their sixth signing of the summer, along with confirmation that the player in question has, we believe, been registered in time for the London derby against Charlton Athletic tomorrow.

Whether he will feature one not – or more likely be a useful addition to Nuno’s bench – is a matter for the Portuguese manager to gauge.

However the deal is done, former West Ham academy star Divine Mukasa is now back in east London as a Hammer for this season at least, after completing a ‘dry loan’ – with no option or obligation – from Manchester City, as as announced by the West Ham web site just now and revealed by Claret and Hugh yesterday.

Manchester City have high expectations for their former Hammers youngster who has already more Championship experience than most in east London after completing a loan spell at Leicester City, where he got two goals and three assists in 15 appearances in the second division. As the whufc.com web site confirmed:

“I’m so excited to be back,” said our new No14. “Just excited to get playing again, really. Once I heard of the opportunity to come back, it was a no-brainer for me.

“I was born around here and have grown up in the Academy and spent nearly ten years there.

“With my style of play, I want to create, score goals and just help the team win games.

“I’m just so excited to get in and try to help the Club get back where they belong”

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
