Signing Number 9?

West Ham United remain determined to bolster their attacking options and are reportedly considering a loan move for Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran, if a place can be created for him within the squad by ‘engineering’ player exits.

According to HITC, Duran is now being eyed as a backup option for the Germany international and remains a target for the irons this summer.

West Ham would be willing to move on both Michail Antonio and Danny Ings before the transfer window shuts – the latter was linked with a return to Southampton earlier in the window.

The Hammers have shown consistent interest in the Colombian striker, who has struggled for regular playing time at Villa Park since his arrival from Chicago Fire. Despite facing stiff competition from other clubs, including Chelsea, West Ham are hopeful of securing a deal before the transfer window closes.

A loan move would allow West Ham to assess Duran’s suitability for the Premier League without committing to a permanent transfer. The 20-year-old’s potential and raw talent make him an attractive prospect, and the Hammers believe he could develop into a key player for the club.

However, Aston Villa are reluctant to let Duran leave on loan unless a mandatory purchase option is included in the deal. The club value the Colombian highly and are determined to recoup a significant fee for his services. It would not surprise us if this deal ‘magically’ developed immediately after the impending West Ham vs Aston Villa game: It might be seen as a potential ‘Banana skin’ for the Villains to let Duran come to a competitor and have him score the winner against them on his debut!

He won’t be able to play against them if he’s on loan

  • NorfolkHammer says:

a loan with obligation to buy would work

  • West Ham Fan no 32 says:

I would be fairly sure given his antics at Villa it would be a loan with an obligation to buy, whatever the case after not being too enthused about this one and considering Steidten’s previous decisions would be curious to see if a deal can be done and what he can do, he is genuinely aggressive it’s whether he can translate that aggression into goals and assists.

Over priced unprofessional and unproven . I don’t understand all the fuss around this guy. worth a punt at a much, much lower fee. Much better options out there for the silly money Villa we’re asking.

  • John Ayris says:

Many of the deals done toward the end of the window will be balancing up PSR motivated. PSR points deductions have made things a lot more complicated.

We’re into if Ings and Antonio leave, and if it suits both Villa and us from a PSR perspective territory. That’s a lot of ifs.

  • TommyD says:

Can’t see Villa allowing him to leave on loan now after being so bullish in their approach earlier on- especially as their main targets to replace him have moved on and they are competing in CL. Think this story is just wishful thinking….

  • Thom Ridgeway says:

I think the …. “He can’t sign because he may score against us!” excuse is weak. You just make the manager agree not to select him for that match. The truth is he is too overpriced.

  • Dudley Tyler says:

Save the story until at least some indication of either of, or both of Antonio and Ings heading for a medical somewhere. Because until they are shipped out any sensible deal is not going to happen. West Ham doing all their business so quickly in the past couple of weeks has sites like this scrabbling to keep interest alive.

Very well said. This website seems to be trying to will more transfers into happening based solely on rumor rags.

  • Dave says:

You lot really are devo’d about this one. He’s coming on in the second half to smash a brace in. He’s not going to you, end of 😂

    • Superboom says:

      Bad day Dave?

    • Cueball says:

Love the banter fair play to ya. But devo’d we’ve missed out on a spoilt kid with zero loyalty? No so much …

If he does score the winner on Saturday will he celebrate with the crossed hammers by mistake?

  • Essex Lee says:

Did someone take their eye off the ball … home grown players and overseas players coming in …
Seems to be getting in a knot with who’s qualified to play ……. Is it turning into a fire sale ..??

Ings Coutal …. And Antonio to be moved on …

  • Scott says:

Ings Yes, Antonio No, always a great player to have around
