Six West Ham players in Premier League top ten

|

Six West Ham players make the Premier League own top ten tables based on various criteria.

It’s an outstanding result for the Hammers and it is the unsung ‘General,’ Fabian Balbuena who has seemingly become the most effective player in the Hammers team defensively.

Whilst Issa Diop has been receiving headlines for his impressive contribution this season, it’s his partner at central defence who appears in four categories.

And it demonstrates that he is perhaps the signing of the summer at a humble £4 million. His performances are all the more noteworthy given he has only played a handful of Premier League games having spent his career previously with South American clubs.

Diop also appears in the lists along with Marko Arnautovic, who has been playing brilliantly whilst still carrying the effects of a knee problem, Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell and – until last weekend – the much criticised Felipe Anderson.

But Balbuena appears to be justifying all the faith placed in him by the manager who has been on the record as claiming he knew the 28 year old would be a big success in the Premier League.

The Paraguay centre back appears in the  Most Inceptions (4th), Most Clearances (2nd)  Headed Clearances (4th) and most minutes played this season as (Joint 1st).

Marko Arnauotvic appears in three categories for Most goals (10th),  Most shots (9th) and Most shots on target (5th) throughout the whole of the Premier League.

Felipe Anderson appears in two official categories for Most through balls (joint 4th) and  Most tackles (Joint 8th).

Finally Issa Diop (Most blocks 8th)  Lukasz Fabianski (Most saves 2nd) and Aaron Cresswell (Last Man tackles joint 3rd) are listed in one category a piece.
