Something big has changed within West Ham BEYOND results

|

Ok, beyond the results, something big has changed inside West Ham United and the way we are playing our football!

We have gone from an ultra defensive outfit to one that looks threatening every time it counter attacks and that is something that has almost happened overnight.

Some believe the players have shown their muscle rather than be tied down to the “don’t let them pass” game.

Something big has changed at West Ham recently

Some say it is the manager and backroom staff who have brought about this revival but I would prefer to believe both sides have come together to decide on this exciting new approach to things.

West Ham were magnificent at Bournemouth and thoroughly outclassed a team that has recently beaten Liverpool, Fulham, Leicester City and Spurs.

But this afternoon from Fabianski through to Antonio West Ham were against a team on fire again and have now scored eight goals in the last couple of games plus the four against Forest.

I find it too coincidental to believe all the players were out of form at the right time having witnessed this totally unexpected revival from and since the Arsenal game.

Lucas Paqueta looks a game changer at last and the likes of Bowen, Antonio, Rice, Coufal, Zouma and even Soucek look top players again in this new approach.

So be it the manager, players or both thank heavens we have our West Ham back again

Agree @100%. Half way through the Arsenal game there was a change, we harried, competed, dug in. We could feel it. I also think Paqueta has been pivotal and I already posted that I think Dec is loving playing with him. Would just like to see Dec, Lucas and Manu out there together!! Good feeling at last and very welcome.

I think the previous two seasons were largely counterattacking style. It’s what got us into Europe. That style of football is built on being strong and compact defensively though. I think some of the players themselves wanted to switch to a more expansive passing game and Moyes tried it but it hasn’t worked. I think the players themselves have since realised what they were good at and gone back to the way they played for two years under Moyes. Moyes himself in a recent interview said he’d switched back to playing counterattacking football. I think Paquetta likes it as well. In the counterattack system Paquetta can be defensive in midfield but attack and steal the ball and then get further forward into the number 10 role that Moyes bought him for. I know the Moyes knockers (who seem to have gone very quiet lately) don’t want to give him any credit for anything but whatever style the team are playing at the moment It’s working and that’s all I really care about so long may it continue.
